The Detailer serves to support the operations team by providing and performing a detailed and thorough inspection and cleaning of the repaired vehicle prior to release to the customer. This role will also serve to assist shop operations by performing a variety of tasks associated with maintenance of the shop location, including cleaning and organizing various pieces of equipment and tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for performing a thorough detailing and cleaning of all vehicles prior to final delivery to the customer.
  • Visually inspect every vehicle for flaws in the repaired area. Promptly notify the General Manager or assigned technician should any defects or issues be found upon inspection.
  • Responsible for assisting in the general maintenance of shop location and outside grounds.
  • Inspecting goods or products according to quality and safety standards.
  • May serve to ensure that test equipment is calibrated and working correctly.
  • Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment, adheres to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Maintains the proper function of all service tools and equipment in the detail department; keep personal work area organized and returns tools, materials, and equipment to designated areas.
  • Identifying possible areas for improvement in quality control processes.

Perform any cleaning activities such as mopping, dusting, sweeping, as well as collecting and emptying trash cans daily. Service, clean, and supply any items in restrooms.

  • Make minor repairs when necessary, such as changing a light bulb.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record is necessary
  • Prior experience in automotive industry is strongly preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal communication and mechanical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to be flexible with task assignments and respond to the needs of the shop operations team
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a larger team to meet the objective of servicing the customer and vehicle
